Nightlife of Laganas, Zante

In the south of Zante is Laganas, which boasts one of
the longest beaches in the entire Mediterranean. With a wide choice of
bars, fun clubs and a healthy dose of party people, Laganas is a top summer fun
destination. The resort is mainly centred around R&B, HipHop and Dance
Music and its DJ's pride themselves on having all the pre-releases and popular
tracks.
As a prime 18-30 holiday destination casual sex is common
place. Please be aware that condoms are not freely available and there are
no machines in pubs and clubs. There is one small chemist on the strip but it
has limited opening hours. If you do intend to visit and are planning on
casual sexual relationships be sensible and pack condoms! Sexually
Transmitted Infections are common and treatment may not be immediately
available.
Laganas Bars
Bad Boys - The first bar on the strip from the beach.
Together with Waikiki, forms the R&B and HipHop backbone of Laganas. The balcony of this bar is a
great place to chill during the day and early evening with a panoramic view of the
beach allowing the perfect opportunity for people watching or may i say "babe
spotting". After midnight, the outside area is cordoned off and the party
really begins, into the wee hours and beyond.
Waikiki - Right on the beach next to Bad
Boys, it was entirely knocked down and rebuilt for summer 2004. It has a club
licence and again offers non-stop partying into the small hours. Drinks
here are very reasonable and the measures and very generous. Music is
loud, spirits are high and the bar staff are notoriously frisky. So girls watch
out!
La Bamba - One of the karaoke bars in Laganas, La Bamba
has a fun atmosphere and is located on the main strip. This is one of the few
family friendly bars in the area.
Cocktails and Dreams - Based on the bar from the Tom Cruise
movie Cocktail with a 50-strong cocktail menu these guys know
how to mix.
Mad Murphys - A relaxed
Irish bar with a pool table, draught Guinness and video screens. This bar is
found halfway down the main strip. Perfect for a quiet drink in the
afternoon or a warm up for a heavy evening.
Medousa - Very popular with 18-30 pub crawls, this bar
has mainly dance and chart music. It can be pricey so be careful.
Laganas Clubs
Cherry Bay Beach Club - Situated right on the beach opposite Bad Boys and
Waikiki. This club has a Baywatch theme with a DJ in a speedboat and the bar staff in wetsuits.
The club offers dance and chart music and caters for young clubbers who want to
drink and dance. One of its many features is a communal shower area.
In the height of summer the club can sometimes smell of vomit due its lack of
windows.
Rescue Bar - The biggest
and best club outside Athens playing all the latest chart and dance music. It's always packed,
drinks are reasonable and the bar staff are some of the best in the area
providing constant entertainment including fire breathing, flame throwing and
dance routines.... you guessed it involving fire. This bar/club offers a
large bar overlooking the main strip and a UK style club at the rear.
Zero's - Next to Rescue with a very similar layout.
This bar/club has a dance and garage theme.
Where To Eat

Important when you fall out of a club at 6am or need
refuelling midway, are looking for a light lunch or an interesting dinner.
Laganas has a wide range of restaurants, snack bars and fast food outlets.
Below are a selection of my favourites.
Mama's Place - Mama's does a mean kebab or gyros (pronounced 'gee-ross')
served with chips inside. I would recommend a dollop of Mama's special
"Sexy Sauce". Possibly one of the best snack stops in the area and
conveniently situated opposite Rescue.
Fatsos - A restaurant open from breakfast until late
evening.
American-run, this outdoor BBQ Grill lets you pay a flat fee to eat
all you want. A varied range is available every night some with themes
such as seafood or steak and ribs. A full range of salads, vegetables, grilled meats, fish
and hamburgers is generally available. A full bar may also be enjoyed.
Guaranteed to increase your waistline!
Georgios - Next to Fatsos on the Kalamaki Road this is
a Canadian, Greek restaurant with a hint of Italian. Offering excellent
food and service I would certainly recommend you visit at least once during your
stay in Laganas.
The Blue Sea - On the beach front just passed Bad boys
this family owned restaurant offers traditional Greek food in a warm, friendly
and inviting atmosphere. A great place to stop for lunch or to visit for
Dinner I would again recommend visiting at least once during your stay. Nothing
is to much trouble, if you can't see what you want on their menu just ask. They
will normally prepare it for you. This restaurant also offers rooms for
rent, they are simply furnished but in an excellent location.
