The Arch, Zante, Greece.
The
Arch in Zante, Greece is one
of the most well known dives sites of the area situated on the Keri Peninsula,
it
is one of the most visited and photographed underwater features of this Greek
island.
It is accessed by a short boat trip from Laganas beach on the south side of
Zante.
This dive
is suitable for all levels of divers with depths ranging from 18-50m. After
a short swim from the mooring point, you will see a large hole
in the rock bed at approx 7m. This provides the entrance to the Arch or Arc De
Triumph as it is also known. You can swim down through the Arch to a depth of 18m+, the sea floor
quickly drops after passing through the Arch, although the depth at the bottom of
the slope is really only suitable for more experienced divers.
A
reef wall slopes up to the cliff edge where you will find a crack in the wall
with a small
opening to a beautiful none overhead cavern. Inside the cavern, if conditions
are right, you can see the most amazing shower of light penetrating from above,
making this a very tranquil place and one of the best dives sites I have dived (see picture to the left
of text).

You can then make your
way back along the wall to the bottom of the Arch, where you can make your
ascent back through the Arch and towards to the boat at a depth of 5-6m
providing the perfect opportunity to include your safety stop in your return journey.
